Default fta on 2nd TV using second sky box

Firstly I opologise if this has been asked before but I have been searching for an answer but cannot find it. I'm also a newbie so please be gently with me!
I have just set up my primary TV in the lounge with Sky +HD with subscription. I previously had an 'old' sky box set up . I have a second quite dated TV in the kitchen and intend updating to a LCD. I have a coax cable embedded in the walls between the sky+HD box and the kitchen but due to the length of the cable, which runs via the attic, the picture is poor.
I dont want to subscribe to multiroom for the kitchen TV and only need BBC and ITV channels, plus channel 4 in the kitchen.
Can someone please advise if its OK to run a cable from the dish (it is a 4 output LNB) to the old sky box which I will situate in the kitchen and link to the new LCD TV using scart.
I read that i may need to get a viewing card from SKy for channel 4. is that correct?
Many thanks in advance of a reply.

That's what most people would do so yes it's fine.
Channel 4 is available FTA with no encryption flag, not sure if that's the version a Sky box would select for the EPG though - it could be added via the extra channels menu if so.
A card would though get also Five's channels if you consider the cost worthwhile.

Channel 5 is also FTA as well, but without a Freesat from Sky card, or an ex subs card, can only be watched via 'other channels' on a Sky digibox.

Details are 10773H, 22000, 5/6.

You can tune C4 & C5 in as extra channels. to do this just press the services button.
Press 4 for system setup
Press 4 for add channels
then for channel 4 the frequency is 10714 (enter using numbers)
polarisation is H (enter using blue arrows)
Symbol rate is 22.0 (enter using arrows)
FEC is 5/6 (enter using arrows)
Press select and after a few seconds a list of channels will be tuned in. Highlight and press yellow to memorise then press select.
For channel 5
Frequency is 10773
Polarisation is H
Symbol rate is 22.0
FEC is 5/6
Channel 4+1
Frequency is 10773
Polarisation is V
Symbol rate is 22.0
FEC is 5/6
Then to access these channels press services then select other channels.

No card needed from Sky. This method for accessing these channels is not perfect but it works.

Alternatively, get a small cheap generic digital satellite box, and have all the FTA channels in any order you want.

My 'old' sky box is a Panasonic Digital satellite receiver, model TU-DSB31. Will that do?
