Default Unable to flash my ex1000sl..heeellpp!!

I bought my box just as VM upgraded their system at the end of November and i need to do a flash.

I bought a serial null modem cable from Amazon but when i attach it and try to download the chatterbox fix it does not find my box on either com1 or com2. I am no slouch where computers are concerned but i have been left dumbfounded as to what may be the problem.

Any ideas would be welcome as i have searched through the posts here but to no avail!

Are you using a serial port or a usb adaptor ? If using adaptor make sure the drivers are loaded and try to use in com port 3

Thanks for your replies!!

I am using a 9-pin Serial null modem cable linked directly from box to PC.
I have not downloaded dnupman software is it necessary???
As far as keys are concerned i input ntl keys but no joy. My area (Manchester) is an ntl/c&w area. Maybe inputting c&w keys might help. Would that be an option to avoid flashing the box??

thanks

If you live in a ex c&w area, then yes, you need to use ex c&w keys

Thanks lee-ds,

It was my error!!. I entered the c&w keys and hey presto we have lift off. I'm new to the cable scene after spending the past 18 months dabbling with the Satellite scene and Alsat forum.

Since the Nagra3 upgrade to virtually all the Satellite tv companies around Europe, access to quality content ( for now ) is impossible until a fix is brought out.

I'd like to thank you and all the other enthusiastic members on the techwatch forum. It is as much fun here as my time was on alsat. I shall for now be content to downgrade my VM to a minimum package and continue to update keys as and when necessary from the chatterbox toolbar.

Happy New Year to one and all!! And Happy cable viewing in 2009.

Well, at the moment you shouldnt be needing to update keys when necessary, if you have the latest update installed it should be auto updating the keys just fine..

And hey, a nice choice you made, the ex1000 is a cracking little thing aint it :-)
