Hi,


Flashed the new commando 10 image the other day - all good except my epg still hasn't loaded.
I left my box on sky sports 1 overnight, have rebooted etc but still no joy. Anything else I need to do to set this up?

EPG is great if you just spend 10 minutes setting it up.

In this new version of the epgfilter you need to setup the channels that you want to get full epg info for. I expect for most people this will be around 100 channels. (The old version of epgfilter you would setup channels you didn't wanted full epg data for)

There are full instructions within the epgfilter.xml file - however all you need to do is:

Using a text editor (suggest metapad) open bouquet.xml and find first channel you want full epg data for and copy the whole line over to epgfilter.xml. Do this for every channel that you want to get full epg for. Then reboot the box. Once rebooted selct the pvr_epg channel for about 10 minutes and you will have full epg.

There are timers setup in C10 to switch to the epg channel overnight to download full epg data. Update these timers if necessary.

. I just wish EVERYONE realized how eazy-peazy 7 Day EPG is to get up and running. Now press Blue then Yellow. Automatic Daily Timers to do things while your fast akip. Study them- and you'll get the drift, if you're in pure nthell, that is...

TW and ex-C&W users might see a different picture- like it trying to zapto channels that don't exist. So spend a few minutes on setting these up properly- but you'll have to Delete the ones that show faulty.

Timer 1 should be OK - Shutdown- but change the time to suit YOUR lifestyle if needed. Shutdown empties the EPG cache from memory.

Timer 2 is a wakeup- make this any channel you like, 5 mins or more after the Shutdown.

Timer 3 is the important one! Zapto PVR_EPG - this is where a fresh lot of 7 Days EPG gets sucked into memory.

Timer 4 is where you Zapto another channel 5 mins later (but test this in case it needs longer, might need 6 or 7 or 8 etc in PVR_EPG). This is the channel you want to come downstairs to each morning.

Timer 5- optional; you could place the box into Standby Mode if you wish, 5 mins after timer 4. Else- forget this.

Essentially- these Timers keep your box perpetually topped up with 7 Days EPG if set up properly, something the Radio Times cannot do, LOL!

commando 10c has an option to have a normal (day or so) epg or a 7day one in the blue button section, all you do is set your provider and reboot, it helps to leave this image on standby as it automatically turns to pvr_epg channel and will switch back to previous channel when power button pressed.

uCode Selection Menu
Set my location for fast scanning
Commando IDE-HDD Setup Menu
Toggle Boot Logos
Reboot to FTA mode


...nothing about epg provider (sorry if i'm being a dumbass)?

My 'cable provider' under the service scan menu is set to CableUK, if that's relevant?

think ur using the earlier commando 10 d/l 10c

or if ur happy with 1-day epg replace the sectionsd file in the /var folder with this

sectionsd.txt

delete the extension before u transfer....chmod to 755

or leave it on the pvr_epg channel to upload not sky sports 1
