It's known as "downgrading". Basically what you do is upgrade your PSP, then you downgrade it to a hacked firmware which is custom made to run homebrew and ISOs (downloaded off the internet) from your memory stick. You could do it yourself but you need a USB cable and possibly a Pandora Battery (see below). If you are using an older firmware, you only need the cable but the newer firmwares require you to use the Pandora Battery and a special memory stick. Have a look on Google for information on how to make it. Look at How to Downgrade a PSP - wikiHow, it explains everything I have said and also tells you where to get all the files. I cannot give you anymore information as I haven't really got experience with modding PSPs as i'm more of an XBox modder, but I have done some research on it as I am planning to get a PSP soon .
