Just recieved a viewing card in te post and rang to activate it.
They asked for the version number and serial number???
Should i be worried as im gonna be using it in my TM3300?
Will it update the card or will i need to use my sky box?

Sorry for the Q's guys but im sure they will try and screw me over.

It won't update the card or activate it, for that you need a Sky box.

Verion number and serial number of what?? I assume the Sky digibox that you have.

Should you be worried.....what for?

Sky won't know what box you're using it in, and it's none of their business so don't tell them. You are using the card perfectly legally.

Hello again

Forgot to say i have a sky box and they activated it for me but its just they asked me for that info so they could link that card to the box.

How often will i need to put the card back in the sky box to update?

Last time I took any notice of it, it was 6 weeks to the day, on my TM6800HD.

The paring of card to box is not relevant unless you go for anything other that a normal mix or FreesatfromSky packages.

when aligning my motor dish can i set the motor to 28.2e and set the dish to that to the best quality i can get? or do i have to use thor?

You can do it like that if you want, but it might not follow the rest of the arc properly. Alright if you are in a rush though.

Apologies for being a total noob! What does a TM3300 or similar do? What happens when you put your sly viewing card in? Free channels?

A TM3300 is a technomate reciever. If you put a sky card in it you will get whatever channels the card allows you to, i.e. you have subscribed to. The advantage of using the technomate v a sky box is that you can put the channels in any order you want, plus you can record if you have that function enabled on the reciever. Personaly I use my sky card with my PVR if I need to and use it in the sky box otherwise as the EPG is better than on my fortec. I have also noticed a better picture quality from my fortec reciever than from my grundig sky box.
