Default SKY+HD Problems

Have just had a new Sky HD box fitted. Can't get it to operate on my Samsung DVI Plasma TV. I can get a picture and sound (HDMI out to DVI In and SCART for sound) but the sky box freezes on one channel and will not change until the DVI lead is removed. Engineer tried 3 different boxes - phoned technical help who claim an incompatible TV. Sky box is made by Samsung.

Any thoughts as we have gone back to SCART in the meantime?

Your TV needs a HDMI input for the box to work, I would imagine that is what Sly mean in that statement.

Very best regards Wez

No experience with DVi but it is virtually the same as HDMi. HDMi is a two way conversation format, ie the TV sends info back to the sat receiver. Only thing that comes to mind to try is some type of HDMi switching unit that might give some sort of isolation in case of interfeerence. May not be any cheaper than changing to a TV with HDMi i/ps. Switchers can be got from 10s of pounds to thousands for an amp with HDMi switching. Cheaper option would be to try better leads but in the end I'm only thinking aloud. I've never had this problem.

Is your plasma HDCP compatable? Chances are that the sky box has out of HDPC (this is to do with copyright protection by law)
