Default Quick question about talk back

Done a quick search and couldnt find this asked before.

I have a subbed modem that works fine, i also up until october paid for 10 meg package. moved back in october and i already had a *live* line that i plugged straight into.

Bit of a mix up with my provider over moving house and they canclled my dirct debit as they thought i had left completley.

Came across the paid for modem earlier plugged it in and its still working !

Question is can they tell if i start using it again? (was gonna run it to pc upstairs) but i dont wanna risk my subbed box getting detected + free cable tv.

My solution to this goes the same everytime and everyone should take note of this message. If you are worried about being caught then dont do it... Thats simple.

modem doesnt send details like that, its tracked at their end by mac address.

they sometimes kill mac addresses, ive heard of people being sent new modems with a letter saying they suspect someones cloned/hacked/what ever their modem and this is a new one, or something to that effect.

VM cancelled my whole direct debit with em when i cancelled the tv+phone line 2 years ago but the b/band still worked a yr l8r..another yr l8r my mac addy is still valid+i have it 4 a backup since i moved house this time last yr but i think if it didn't flag up at their end if i used it again it seems like some macs r ghosts in their system+can b used indefinitely as they cant b bothered 2 keep their basic admin upto scratch..
