Question Kryptview A700C dead?

Hi all,

I updated to the 29/11 firmware in early december and all was well, then a few days before Christmas my box went dead. I turned it off from the power socket and now when I turn it on I get a single green dot on the display and nothing else. There is nothing coming through on the TV and the power button or any of the buttons on the remote dont work.

I think something in the box has fried. I do have a 18 month old son who likes to press the power button rapidly a lot when I'm not looking.

Anyone else had this dead box problem? It might be a case of buying a new one. If so, whats the best on the market now? Do kryptview do a HD recorder version?

Thanks.

Dont have the dead box but do occassionally get the single green light scenario, to rectify this I have to switch off disconnect power and fire it back up again, funnily enough it started after the 2911 software was loaded

Yeah I tried that a few times, I even left it unplugged over a 4 day xmas period, but when I plug it back in I just get the single green dot and no audio or video and no response from the remote or front buttons.

I opened it up yesterday and it looks like some sort of yellow powder/substance has leaked out of the of the main capacitors. I think it's a gonner. I'm not sure whether these boxes come with any guarantees?

Probably have to buy a new one I guess. It's only about 8 months old.

You should have a 12 month warrenty with the box, get in touch with your supplier!

If its just the caps that have blown it would only cost pennys to fix,but first try your supplier

Hasnt he invalidated the warranty opening it up?

with the green dot syndrome it looks like a fault on Power suply, some KV's show nothing and some show a green dot, had a green dotter before and most likley it's a capicitor, quite a common fault with some KV's.
just replace the dud capacitor.
