Question Sky+

Hello,
I have a subscription to Sky and want to upgrade to Sky+.

Sky said they need to send an engineer to run a second cable from the dish to the TV.

This is so I can watch one channel while recording another.

Is this something I could do myself? What would be required? Could I just buy a switch or something? As you can see I'm quite newbie and confused...

Thank you in advance for any clarification...

Fabio

they need to run another coax as sly+ has 2 tuners so they will put a quad LNB up, no reason you cant do it yourself if you feel upto it

Quad LNB? Isn't that something required to receive 4 different satellites?

so it's essentially just a matter of replacing the LNB and running a second cable, right?

Right! and run a third coax to another room and install your otherwise redundant digibox there to view the free channels on.

Good point

Keeping in mind that this is not a standard Sky dish, but a 1m Triax, what (if anything) do I need to consider when buying a quad LNB?

Thanks.

So not one of these:

Sky mini dish LNBs. Sky single LNB and Sky Quad LNB Big Discounts. Low prices on Sky LNBs.

but any of these should be ok? EDIT: not any, of course, any non-Sky...

Quad LNBs. Quad 4 output LNBs, 40mm & C120 flange. Big Discounts. Low prices. Sky quad LNBs.

Thanks.
