It WILL work. I have it going on my TM6800HD. Stick the card into the Digobox about every six weeks when it goes off.

Thanks Robbo, I would still get Channel 4 HD without having any subscription with sky or even having a sky dish? Would i need to ring sky to activate the card for freeview or would it work anyway? I presume the sky box would work with the dish i have for my technomate?

why would you use the card in a different box can you not get the same on the digibox??

If the Sky card was already activated, e.g if it was an ex-subscription card, it would just work, although if it has missed an update, it would need to go into a dodgibox overnight or so to get it going again.

It doesn't matter waht dish you have, any old dish will do, as long as it is fitted with a universal LNB and correctly aligned to 28E it will work.

If you obtain a new card from Sky, eg a Freesatfromsky card, it will need activating prior to use. This is done by phoning Sky.

By the way, the card must have a yellow house on it, the older cards don't work anymore.

Either way, you 100% DO NOT need a subscription for CH4 HD.

Thanks, I've seen one for sale including the sky card so i'm guessing it is an ex-subscription. I'm going for it now, there seems to be a lot of programmes shown in HD on channel 4 so will make it worth it.

ok the card i have doesnt have a house its just blue with skydigital on it, i guss the box is no good afterall, can another card be programmed to work ? its a pace digibox

That card is over 5 years old and is of no use whatsoever unless you want an ice scraper on a frosty morning.

The box should work fine, but if you want a card for it the only place to get one is from Sky - you CANNOT programme any card of any kind for it.

Just as a matter of interest - whats the model number on the base of the receiver?

the box was made by pace model number BSKYB 2500S3.


i found info on another site saying that with the digibox tool and a jtag the box can be read and wrote to, so if i had a a sky sub and say i had a holiday home i could clone the box so that both box's worked on the same card???
i was goin to try but i dont think i will bother now besides i have cable.

Wouldnt work anyway - you would need to change the serial number on the box - and the ONLY way to do that is with the shed full of expensive gear.

You CANNOT clone sky boxes - jtags ate just about useless on them with the sort of kit hobbyist have available. You cant even change the firmware on them - its only availbable via ota download.

You can transfer cards between one box and another as often as you want - the entertainment channels will work, but the movies & sports channels wouldnt. My original sky box expired 18 months ago and I never bothered getting the card paired to the new box.
