you will need a max 232 card adapter, TMC is the man for these ethernet cable(obviously).

the `new kid on the block` is haxoware, I have not tried it personayl but it seems to do the biz, but for simplicity I would go for infinite, once you have mastered flashing its easy peasy putting your macs, tftp in using the Ambit config tool.
word of note look up `protecting your ambit 250/255,because if you dont you will just have a blue door stop on your hands

You must protect the modem from backdoor attacks by changing the telenet default passwords which are `admin` and `Infinite` use the Ambit & 250 config tool to change them, nice and easy also best to change the serial number as well.if you go int to telenet and put these commands in for extra saftey

USE THIS GUIDE TO PROTECT YOUR 250 AND SB5101E

STEP 1

1 DOWNLOAD CONFIGURATOR 250 from where ever !
2 UNPLUG COAX (CABLE FEED) FROM MODEM
3 LEAVE POWER AND EHERNET IN ONLY
4 OPEN CONFIGURATOR 250 AND PRESS CONNECT
5 ON THE TOP LEFT ITS SAYS USERNAME AND PASSWORD
6 DELETE THE USERNAME AND PASSWORD AND ENTER YOUR OWN USERNAME AND PASSWORD
(YOU MUST REMEMBER IT TO LOG INTO AMBIT CONFIG TOOL)SO WRITE IT DOWN
7 PRESS WRITE SETTINGS AND WAIT UNTIL DONE
8 RESTART MODEM ( PULL OUT POWER LEAD WAIT 20 SECONDS THEN RECONNECT )

STEP 2

1 WITH COAX STILL OUT, LEAVE POWER AND ETHERNET IN MODEM
2 OPEN AMBIT CONFIG TOOL
3 REMOVE CURRENT USER NAME AND PASSWORD ENTER YOUR NEW USER NAME AND PASSWORD
IN THE BOXES ( THE 1 YOU WROTE DOWN )
4 PRESS READ
5 PRESS CM TERMAINAL AT THE BOTTOM
6 PRESS CONNECT
7 IN THE WHITE TEXT BOX ENTER THESE COMMANDS PRESS RETURN AFTER EACH 1

cd \cm_hal
scan_stop

cd /
cd non-vol
cd snmp_cm
docsDevSerialNumber cmxxxxxxxxxxxxx (replace 13 xxxxxxxxxxxxx'S with any numbers u like)
write

cd /
cd snmp
view_v1v2 Noaccess
cd /
( TYPE YES WHEN IT ASKS FOR YOU TO SAVE )

cd non-vol
cd msg-log
telnet_ipstacks 2
write

cd \
cd non-vol
cd snmp
max_dload_tries 0
write

ALL DONE REBOOT MODEM

what has happened the 250 modem? has it stopped going online?,can you still get into telenet.modem settings page via internet explorer.
dont forget vermin have change the tftp for most of the country within the last month and you cant force configs so if you have the box ticked in the ambit tool it wont work

tftp is ok used it on a friends modem that went done due to config file forcing was a Motorola never really messed with 250's before although one in question was a 255, followed guides got it sorted, would run for an hour then loose lease modem reboot needed, not had it online since, btw macs from ubr5 I'm 2 so aint that. Dont even get me started with the config tool what a pile of poo well for me and the 255 that is, refuses to comit some changes ie. config file, force config button, etc etc.... I have no other modems here right now so will mod a 250 then i know if it's the mac's or not, but i doubt that, was only scanned a week ago
