Hey all,
Sorry if this is posted in the wrong place or if its the sort of thing I shouldnt really be asking. About 6 months ago, we decided to sign up for the Virgin XL cable package, and I rang up Virgin who were more than happy to take my money and send me a Vbox We have had the broadband with them for 2 years, so all the cables were installed, I just had to plug everything in.When I rang them to activate the box, they asked for the serial of the box and the serial from the "smart card", which I gave. I was told by them that the codes were not "stock codes" and that they had sent me the wrong box for my region (i think) So, they were supposed to send me a new box. A couple of days later a blinkin' NTL:250 cable modem turned up! I rang them again, and they appologised and said that they would send a new box out again! In the end I got a new SMT-2110C box and card, which all works well. However, when I asked about what to do with all this extra hardware they had sent me, they were not bothered in the slightest. I was told "we can arrange collection if you want". So I have a spare modem and spare box. I dont want them, apparently Virgin doesnt want them. A few people on eBay do seem to want them though, lol. To get to the point, If I do sell the box and modem - will I get any comebacks? Neither of them have ever been activated properly, but will I get a bill for some guys cable from Virgin as the box was registered to me in some way? Also, Im guessing that these items are property of virgin, so would it be a bit illegal to sell them anyway? Many thanks for all your help, sorry for the long winded question ![]() Cheers and a happy new year, Ninty |

If they dont want them back you can dispose of them any way you like, the cable box hasnt been activated so depending on type of box whether its capable of being modded, if it is and someone uses it for on demand it is possible vm could try and send you the bill, depends if its actually registered to you or not, the modem would have to have a different mac address if its modded so you are ok with that.

If they ever ask for it say it was clogging up space and you spoke to a passing engineer and he stated just leave it outside you're door and he will pick it up on his way back from a job.
