Default SB5100 disconnection issue

hi,
sorry its sb5100
i've got an sb5100 with sigmaX software running. the problem i have is every 10-15 mins it will disconnect and will take around 5-10 mins to re-connect. i've only had this modem running for couple of days, so disappointed.
the mac i have is from ubr.09, i'm in ubr.08 so there shudn't be any problems.

reading the forums here it seems as the mac address is in the same ubr but how can it be since i got this off my mate (around 3-4 miles away) who ran DHCP Force for me and pulled few macs out.

i would appreciate any help so this does not happen.

thanks.

prince

Default Re: SB5101 disconnection issue

hi just to add to the above. Does a config file have to exist on the tftp server i'm connceting to? i'm forcing 20mb config and couple of times did get close to 18mb dl, does that mean it has nothing to do with the config file name? (since i changed it couple of times). wha can cause this disconnection and rebooting?

thanks in advance

----------------------------------------

I have also seen the following in address part to the router via IE (replaced numbers with xx for privacy):

# Known CPE MAC Address Status
1 00:00:xx:A3:65:xx Learned
2 00:13:xx:E76:xx Self
3 00:21:xx:14:79:xx Learned

I have also noticed that the Learned MAC is staying the same even if the macy is changed which is displayed in "Self". Does this mean even by changing the mac manually the CPE USB MAC stays the same thus i get same ip despite changing the mac on the modem?

Is this normal? Please advise

I've read that it's a bad idea to force configs now and in some areas they don't even work anymore.

I'm unsure what happens though, if anything.

Would you suggest I connected without the force config since the macy i'm using is for 20mb? The modem keeps rebooting too.

Also very strange:

I used 2 dif macys and checked my ip, in both cases my IP was the same, how's that possible? should that be the case?

Im sure my IP changed when I disabled my network adapter and then re-enabled it

Do you spoof your NIC MAC address because VM can blacklist HFC macs against your NIC MAC - just a thought

Why are you forcing 20mb when the MAC is subscribed to 20mb? Dunno whether it will make a difference whether its checked or unchecked - maybe someone else could answer this

you cant be running sigmax on a 5101
its either haxorware for a 5101 or you are running sigma on a 5100.

regarding the "learned" parts, ignore that its to do with the modems ethernet mac, not HFC mac.

Sorry I made a mistake, it is SB5100. Is there a solution cuz it seems to be getting worse and keeps d/c after few mins.
thanks.
