Default V+ HD new install... picture = rubbish

Hi all,

Just moved house and got the nice VM man round to install a new V+HD box for me (got a dbox for now so not fussed about chipping it yet).

The installation man was quite smelly so i wanted him outta the house before he stayed too long... consequence is that the picture quality isn't good.
It's not a signal issue, i would suspect, since the dbox image is fine.
Also thinking it's a setup issue is because the menus are all blury and not sharp at all (like they are on Sky+ and dbox).

I've got it connected via the HDMI cable (which they didn't supply! It's in the post apparently) and the TV is a 52" 1080p Samsung LCD panel.

Please can someone explain what settings i should be using on the V+HD box to get the best out of the STB and screen?

Also, the VM man said i could configure the VM remote to control the volume on the Samsung TV but left before telling me how

Thanks guys!

Press home then in the menu go to settings then press 4 display and audio settings, from there change the TV display format to High Def HDMI and then next one down (output) to 1080p.

That should change the display to a better format.

I'm almost certain it is set to that already... I'm at work currently but will check as soon as I return home.

Hey Flint... change your video setting from 1080 wide to 720 wide.
Made an instant huge difference on my screen... the broadcast signal isn't 1080 anyway so that wasn't effected but the menu's etc sharpened up no end.

I have a feeling the V+HD box isn't 1080 but can upscale to 1080 which is why it can do it, just really badly.
