Default Question about ntl/upc cabel box..

Hi all,

I'd like to use that oportunity to introduce myself as well as aks my first question. It's my first post so you all be correct assuming I'm completly green in the subject. In that situation you have to understand it's very difficult for me to browse the forum looking for information (I don't know what I suppous *spelling* to look for)

I have ntl DVB box Model PACE DC221KN. I have it with the original card (the paired one), the contract is over and it's not working. I also have other box working one with the ongoing contract in the living room). I'd like to use the spare box for my bedroom.

So my questions are:

1. Is there a way to flash the card so it will work on the box?
2. Is it required to do anything with the box?

As far as I know. I'll need programator (was thinking about usb phoenix programator).

Also when I was browsing net I read about unlooper in articles related to the subject. Which creates another question:

3. What does unlooper do? Will I need it?

I was trying to find the anwser on the forum here, but with no result. Thanks in advance.

Default Re: Question about ntl/upc cabel box..

Hi Javier Bonanza, i am green in this subject as well and i know its very hard, even hard than satellite receivers, so far i have been reading a lot in this forum as well looking for information in how to do the magic thing.

The only thing i collect so far is that basiclly you need a

(Infinity usb)= Its a usb hardware you buy from the internet to flash a card.

((card)funcard)= its the card that goes in the receiver, and has a eeprom memory on it, so to flash this card you need your phoenix infinity usb.
"Depend wich receiver you have you may need different card or usb hardware to flash it.

EEprom= basicly is a memory that you can write, read, modify. So in this card you put the information using the usb hardware to unlock channels i believe.

Jtag= This one i got for my self its a cable that plugs into your printer port of your computer and the other end plugs into your receiver to do some thing that i don't know what yet so far. I bought mine from ebay usully cames from America. You need a compatible software with this cable to recognise your receiver.

Hope i helped little bit.
Cheers
