Exclamation Please help newbie here with Technomate 5400

I am a total novice to this and am in a funny situation.

I have taken over a new house in Malta which has a Technomate 5400 + now the codes have expired on all the instructions and the owner who is living in India i can not get hold of.

I do have an idea how it works but i have no manual.

I found some keys for Digi channels etc but i cannot get the box to recognise the keys, i do not know what i am doing wrong and it is driving me crazy with bbc news channel only.

Any advice or good related websites you could suggest where i can find instructions and keys to unlock channels would be very helpfull and stop me pulling my hair out!!!!

Hi, you will need to provide some more information.

Are you definitely able to receive channels from 1w? Is that BBC World and can you list its frequency? (You can see this by pressing info on the remote)

Can you watch any other TV channels at the moment and if so can you list about ten?

Is your dish motorised?

Beyond that, you can find information on loading keys or 'patching' your receiver by going through the appropriate sticky in the Technomate section here.

Hi Thanks for getting back to me.

Its is a motorised Dish with 8 satelites on it when i go to the Sat menu.

I know it is all aligned correctly as they owner of it came back and tested it.

He said the codes would need updating soon hence why all the channels have gone.

i.e it is in Astra 1 and i have all the usual news channels sky, bbc euronews etc and loads of german film channels and mobile phone porn channels.

I have it it on FTA + SCR mode and it has all these channels mentioned above.

BBC world is on SAt 19.2E Astra 1 TP 11.597V 22.00 hope this means something to you.

I remember he mentioned something about Nagravison saying it can unlock those channels.

I went for the Digi keys to unlock the film channels that were there before the code expired.

Hope this helps and sorry if i get the jargon wrong im trying!!

Thanks!!

OK; that helps a bit. Firstly, there is hardly any encrypted channel on the Sat 19.2e (i.e. Astra 1) that can be watched without subscription now (only Trace, Sailing and 1 or 2 others).

'Digi keys' refer to keys for a package on a different satellite position. This satellite position is 0.8 or 1w. It might be stored in your receiver as Thor or as Intelsat 10-02. You have to move the dish to this position for the Digi keys to have any use. The second problem would be whether you have entered the keys correctly in the first place. The following link _http://www.lyngsat.com/packages/digi.html contains a list of the Digi TV channels; once you have moved your dish to 1 w, check if you have signal for these channels and check if they can be watched or scrambled; if scrambled try pressing Mute button followed by Exit button and see if that brings up a keys menu table which says Digi TV at the top. If you get this far, try entering the keys that you have ---- correctly.

Two caveats: (1) are you sure you have the correct/latest keys; and (2) do you know how to enter the keys?
