Default Thinking of buying Eurovox max V 2008 ?.

Hi I am new to all this,

I am paying for VM broadband and am I am thinking of purchasing a eurovox max v 2008,

This will be the first box I will have bought, is there anything I need to watch out for ?,

What sort of price would I expect to pay for a new boxed one ?,

Any help would be much appreciated,

Am I correct in thinking if I can't see the row of 3 green capacitors through the slots at the front on the left side of the box, then it is a clone ?.

Thanks for any help you can offer.

yep I'd second that, play safe, be assured, buy an ex1000 .. Its a small, funky & discrete little thing, doddle to setup and use, and works well ..

There haven't been any new MAX V's for some time now - currently there are the EX1000 and EX5000 available

Thanks everybody for the reply's,

I was thinking of the eurovox max v 2008 because there seems to be a lot of information available for when it goes wrong/needs updating, and they sell them at my local carboot, the same guy has been selling them for over 6 months, but from what every one is saying these will most likely be clones,

How long would you expect a eurovox EX1000 to last, before I would need to upgrade the firmware ?,

Is the only difference between the EX1000 & EX5000 that the EX5000 has an internal hard drive for recording programs ?,

what size is the hard drive ?,

Thanks again for everyone's help.

The difference between the ex1000 and the ex5000 is the hard drive facilty. The ex5000 comes with a 120gb hard drive, but i think its possible to get a higher hard drive to work with the ex5000

Well it depends if you request to buy a hard drive at the same time. I think you can get up to 500gb but it will only record 1 transponder and one time. It doesnt have more than 1 tuner.
When you buy the ex5000 as the cheapest option you will usually only get the box and not a hard drive.
