Thats not a problem, thats just plain weird ... So to clarify what you said, when you're sat right next to your wireless router with your own Laptop you can only see other networks in your street, but not your own, and yet with your work Laptop you can see your own network. ?? Makes no sense.. Can your work laptop also see the other networks then? wierd ..

Your wifi card/module in your laptop might only be compatible with certain wireless standards eg 802.11a, 802.11b, 802.11g. Try having a play with the settings by changing from one standard to another.
Also, I've seen some wifi cards / software that were only compatible with certain types of encryption. E.g. one laptop a friend had would quite happily see WEP encrypted networks, but when the network was switched to the more secure WPA standard. It could not detect it. Try changing the encryption/security. |

Are you broadcasting your SSID?
Could you have changed a setting on the laptop which now means it cannot connect to your wireless network automatically? Have you MAC address filtering on? If all else fails backup your router and default it, erase any pre-saved wireless networks and try again using no encryption etc and go from there. |
