Default Eurovox Max V 2008

Been pulling my hair out for a long time with my two Max V's, had them about 9 months, both working fine for a few months then started getting the jumpy channels syndrome, after plenty of reading of the forum, I invested in a variable attenuator which did the trick for a while but a few weeks ago it started to get progressively worse, 99% of the time i only want to watch and record racing uk and attheraces channel, usually i can get one channel viewable in sacrifice of the other. I knew i had a couple of splitters in the setup (hidden in walls etc) so i decided to take the plunge and run a direct good quality cable straight to the box. It didn't make a jot of difference. My signal strength is good, around the 84% mark, I used the attenuator recently to bring this down to around 74% which worked well in the past but not anymore, it's happening identically on both boxes too. When I have read about the jumpy channel syndrome on here it seems to be mostly with the Max v's? I wonder if the tuner isn't quite up to scratch? Before I dispose of both boxes and subscribe fully to VM to get the channels I would like any suggestions. Ideally i'd like to try a red or blue box to see if that makes any difference so if anyone is in the Manchester area and has one i could try i would appreciate it, PM me please. It's unlikely that both boxes have developed a fault at the same time, my gut feeling is that it's too strong a signal coupled with the Max V's tuner ability to handle it that well despite the attenuator. If I don't get any response from anyone willing to lend me a red or blue box for an hour then i would like to know where i can buy one from, it's pretty much last resort stuff now. Thanks for reading.

There was some talk some time ago, that there were some boxes about with weak/dodgy tuners, how true that was I don't know, but if it was true and both your boxes were bought at the same time from the same batch it would explain your problem,I can well imagine how you must be feeling ...try lincsats sticky at the top of the forums,he sells boxes but not sure what types,an email to him, detailing your problem might be of benefit .....

Just a suggestion have you turned the signal booster off in the menu as this can play a part aswell.

could be a dodgy fitting or faulty isolator or splitter somewhere as well m8, please describe your setup exactly as the cable comes into the outside box...

Thanks for replies... I have tried the signal booster on and off but to no avail, it is a direct cable from the outside box to the Max V, also tried variable attenuator plugged into the back of the box, should there be any other device in the setup or worth trying at least.

Thanks

I used to use the other box via a splitter but when the probelms started happening i disconnected the 2nd box and used 1 box direct, i used the 2nd box for testing the results i got from the first box.

Tried an EX1000 and have stable pictures with variable attenuator using the loop out, will see how it goes. This box seems to handle the current iffy VM signal better in my area.
