Hi, grateful for any advice on this query.
I moved into a house with satellite dish up, their cable went into the conservatory. I got Sky round and got Sky+, he fitted HD cable into my front room through wall where I wanted it. He mentioned that the two cables going into the conservatory should still work. So I've got a TV in the conservatory with two cables with "f" connectors at the end of them coming out of the wall, I connected them to the TV but obviously nothing happening, presumably they need a separate sky box, I only want to watch the same channel that the main box is viewing, can this be done without stretching cables through the house? if that makes sense, thanks in advance! |

The two cables in your conservatory are from the LNB on the dish, and carry the sat signal. If you want to watch your sky plus box there then you need a cable from the RF out on the box to the TV you want to watch it on.
What you could do is get a freesat box and use that in your conservatory for the FTA chanels, or get a second sky box (ebay) and order multiroom then you dont have to watch the same chanell in both rooms. |

your other option would be a wireless video sender, if you didn't want to run cables. That would allow u to watch the same chanel in both rooms.

Since the cables in the conservatory have f connectors, you might simply get a freesat receiver or a generic FTA receiver or even a second hand Sky (or Sky+) box to use with the TV there; straightforward connection. In fact, there is no need to contact Sky about multiroom (and this is totally legal) if all you want are the free channels; only if you want the same channels as on a main Sky subscription might you need to discuss multiroom.

I fail to see just how you managed to connect a F connector to the TV. there are no connections for F connectors on a TV. If you want to watch the same channel in two rooms why don't you connect the TV in the main room using a scart cable and use the RF cable to connect to the other TV. This has the added advantage that you can use the RF out, with the 12V, from the Sly box, to the TV in the second room, and use a magic eye and use this to change channels on the Sly box, in the main room, that way you will not be stuck with the channel you had the Sly box on when you left the other room. This is very handy if the other TV is in the bedroom and you want to just relax in bed and watch whatever channel you like. Hope this is of help and wish you the very best with it. Very best regards Wez

Hi, Thanks for the quick replies!
I think I'll try a wireless sender first, if that's no good try an old skybox off ebay. The f connector to TV thing, I used a connector thing I think it was a female f to TV aerial type connection then a normal aerial extension to TV, it came with a "sky TV-link" (which included a tv link eye thing) pack I bought which proved little use.

The tv link wouldn't work because you connected it to the dish rather than to the sky box.
If you already have this I would recommend running a coax from your sky box to your conservatory TV. This will let you change the chanel from the conservatory or livingroom and will be cheaper and less problematic than the video sender. Ofcourse it does mean running the cable. Best of luck with whatever you decide. |
