Default 2 receivers one motorised dish

Ive just got a second HD receiver and want to move my SD box upstairs, I could use the loop through but I would want to control the dish from wherever I am watching from. The receivers probably wont be on at the same time. I thought about manually switching between the two boxes as well. Is there a way of doing it automatically or magically, any comments ideas please?

Not reccomended, but reported to work by connecting both receivers to a splitter/combiner, with DC pass on both legs. The one not being used, must be turned off.
Probably best to use USALS I would have thought.

A safer way to do it would be to use a twin LNB and only allow one box to control it. When you are at the non-controlling one use a remote extender and control the box in the other room.

Hi,
What is wrong with your idea of the loop through? I have my Dreambox 7025 and my Technomate 6900 Super Combo on the one dish and both drive the dish and they are looped through, from the Dreambox to the Technomate. As you very rightly hinted, you can only do this if one of the boxes is in standby. I have have the Dreambox 7025, in the bedroom, looped through to my Dreambox 500s, downstairs, and have used both boxes to drive the dish, the same applies, only one box has to be on at a time.

Hope this is of some help, it will work.

Very best regards Wez

Oh I some how got the idea that using the loop through would inhibit the usals from the last in the loop. What you are saying is I could do this if I just use one at a time which I would be doing anyway?

Yep, Wez's idea is better.

Not sure if Wez has tried it, but it may be possible to leave the slave receiver switched on, without effecting the master. It could depend on what receivers are being used of course.

Thanks Guys, I may give it a go but between last night and now, I'm thinking of returning the HD box as I don't think its as friendly as my tm5400 and shelling out the extra to get a tm6800 but I am still going for the 5400 upstairs idea on a loop through

Hi Billet, I have now got my 2 receivers connected together, I have Mvision HD200 downstairs with the main feed from the dish connected to this. The HD 200 has a loop through connector to which I have run a coax cable to the upstairs and connected it to my Technomate 5400.

The HD200 works as it did controls the dish etc, I put it in standby and the 5400 can control the dish upstairs works great foe me I just need 2 cams now.

I get the idea that no signal is passed through when the HD200 is on as the 5400 cant find a signal, however I read somewhere that if your boxes are both looking for the same sat and the same polarisation this would work (not tried it yet as when I turn the boxes on there always on different sats).

Hope this helps

so what you are saying is that only one box is connected to the dish. I have a 7025 Dreambox which is connected to the dish, if I run a cable from the 'out' connector to my other box that will be ok?

Hi Billet,
I did have this reply written to you, but it would not go because of the crash.

You have got it right, I have got my 7025 connected to a quad LNB through the motor and then the Technomate 6900 is connected via the loop through from the Dreambox. I now have the 500s connected to another output from the quad LNB and it in turn is looped through to my Humax Foxsat box. I have my boxes connected this way because I am not using my 1.2 CM dish just now and when I get my 2 Mtr dish up and running all I need do is to connect the 500s to the motor and it will be controling the 90 Cm dish then.

Very best regards Wez
