Default Setting up motor dish!Whats in the clear at 1 degree west?

I have an old prime focus IRTE 1.2 dish (built like SH doors used to be built) which I am going to try and set up. What channels will I find in the clear at 1 degree West? I will put my 42" lcd in the patio window and use the on screen signal strength meters from my Technomate 5500 DAPCI. At present I have a broken 36v motor and am using a piece of wood to hold the dish in place on Astra 19.2 Degs E - ok as long as the winds stay low! Now have to find a 12" motor suitably priced - I noticed Maplins had one for around £12 plus postage - wonder what they are like? I'm in Southampton England

It depends what firmware that you have on your receiver. Most owners seem to be flashing to Next to get the most out of this box.

Take a look at this thread.

Technomate 5500

Digitv is open on most receivers (Nagra 2)

Packages: RCS DigiTV - KingOfSat

In addition, Diablo cam owners are also enjoying a couple of conax packages on 1W.

For setting up your dish try BBC World News, 11325 H 24500, it's a FTA channel on 1W.

There are lots of FTA channels, shown here:-

Thor 3/5 & Intelsat 10-02 at 0.8°W - LyngSat

I always use 11325H as per Mickhas post.

bbc world is the best bet as the signal is strong and you will certianly pick it up on a 1.2m dish

cant you find 1west and peak the dish and put the broken actuator on the polar mount to hold the dish while you get a new one ?

Many thanks for the inputs. I don't think it worth while at present to update the firmware to "Next" at present as there does not appear to be any new support in that direction- and being so ignorant I'm frightened. I get super quality signal on 19 degrees - and picture and the 5500 is very fast in changing channel - never experienced anything so fast!!. So the next step is motorising the dish - at least it looks as though I will be able to find a signal at 0 ish degs West l I would just love one a them thar meters what as indicates the name of the satillite - I wonder what the cheapest would be?

Although it does make life simpler having a meter, it's not a necessity.

If you tune your receiver to 1W and transponder 11325H SR 24500, with a little patience moving your dish, you should get a strong signal.

Scan the full satellite and then verify it on kingofsat by checking the other channels that you have pulled in.
