Unhappy ex 1000 sl flash problem

hi
just brought a ex 1000 sl and im trying to flash it with the latest firmware (UFL_EX1000SL_DarX_01-12-08).
ive tryed connecting to win xp pc with a null modem cable and a usb-serial converter, changed the port to com3, but the loader cant find the box. ive also tryed it with a different null modem cable and a direct connection on a different pc.
ive read all the posts i could find covering this 'no connection' problem but still cant find a fix
does anyone have an ideas?
thanks in advance.

lol yeh the box is pluged in. ive also tried turning the box off (at the plug), pressing download on the firmware and then turning the box on - to download the firmware in boot mode. but it still cannot find the box, it just says 'waiting for response from the reciever'. ive follwed the tutorials posted to a tee loads of times but still no luck

Ummm, should be easey peasey really,... Ummm, yea, null modem cable direct to serial port is the best way (people have a lot of issues with USB) so if you still cant do it via Serial then, ummm, errrrr... Dunno but, worth a try, try setting the com port baud rate to 115200 .. maybe ,,,

the box cam with free to air software already on it and it works fine, is there a chance that the rs232 port on my box is faulty?

I have exactly the same problem with the same box, i got it to work once somehow but at the end it said download unsucessful or something. Do you find your computer clicks and flashes between com 1 and com2 just before you get the option to press start?

connect the box to a pc without the serial converter (straight to com port) then try again.
if it still says cannot find reciever then flash the box again with the fta software and see if that loads ok.... if it does then flash the darx file to the box... had this problem with a box i had and it did the trick. hope this helps
