Has anyone had this problem?

I want to change my ftp password from the default dreambox but can't. I have tried through DCC as well as the Windows Telnet application but get the same response viz. "an error occurred updating the password file". Do I have to change the attributes on the password file? if so where is it stored?

If you are actually connecting to your dreambox via a dos window and telnet then just enter 'passwd' without the ' '. You will be asked for the login which is root and you may be asked for the existing password. Then enter your new password (it will be asked for twice) and then exit.

Thats exactly what I have been doing and I get the message "an error occurred updating the password file", just like I said in my original post.

Hi All

Using Dreambox Control Centre select FTP, highlight all files and directories, right mouse click, select properties, ensure that all files are read and write, press OK.

Using telnet change the password. Yes, yes, yes. I've been trying to do this for days.
