Unhappy Ipod nano 2gb stopped working

I have a ipod nano which suddenly stopped working whenever i try to charge it nothing happens. The ipod starts to turn hot whenever i plug it in charge it turns so hot that i cannot hold it in my hand.
Does anyone know what the fault could be and how i could fix it.
Thanx
