Default Noob looking for some advice

Hello all,

I presently have a sky+ box (+ my old SKY card) and the sky dish with dual LNB. I can see the FTV channels. I am thinking of getting a HD receiver. Which FTV HD channels would I get with out moving the dish?

Also which HD receiver would be good for me? I am not looking for footie or adult stuff, but would probably move to a motorised dish in the future. Also TV recording is not a reqirment but would not mind. Not too keen on manual software updates and stuff like that at the moment but would probably want to ease in to it gradually.

Thanks in advance for your help.

BBC HD
C4 HD
ITV HD (very part time - couple of hours a week)
Luxe TV HD (not on HD epg)

I have really not made up my mind about that. As I said, I do want to expand my horizons a bit in the future but I don't see the point of getting a really expensive kit that will mostly be sitting there skipping between cbeebies and BBC HD. Basically I will try to come up with the budget depending on the recommendations here and my feelings. I have never bought a receiver in the past, always got them from Sky. So, this is all new for me. I would not mind a second hand kit from ebay to get me going. But I do want to have some scope of experimentation in the near future when I get some free time without needing to re-invest in another new receiver.

So basically I am looking for some suggestions (possibly price included) from all the Gurus here who have been through similar situations.

Hmm, looks rather limited. Thanks for the answer.

this maby? New HD Receiver Just £109!
Dont think it can record!

I think the best HD reciever is the technomate 6800 / 6900 but are a very expensive for BBC HD
But if your going motorized in the future You should look at it
They can also record!

Can agree on the Technomate. A good buy in my opinion.

Unless you have used one how can one say its the best! As a seller of all types of receivers I see and I play with loads, personally I like the Topfield TF7710 as its a proper twin tuner receiver high definition receiver with a decent sized HDD of 320GB, yes Technomates are good but not the best, and it all depends on how much you want to spend? and what specification you want to have?
