Below is an extract of a file I made up for Media Portal and I am in a pure 6887 area. How many of these files would be needed to cover all UK possibilities. If someone could give me the starting/finishing frequencies and steps I would do all the typing so we can get it into the Media Portal release. The idea is so the next guy can choose from a pull down....instead of hours of research.
;This file contains the definitions for DVB-C networks. It contains the parameters needed ;to tune to one ore more DVB-C networks. For each network you have to specify ; -carrier frequency ; -modulation type ; -symbolrate ;format: frequency, modulation, symbolrate 203000,64QAM,6887000 211000,64QAM,6887000 219000,64QAM,6887000 . . . 778750,64QAM,6887000 794750,64QAM,6887000 |

You already can select from the pull down?! tbh all i ever did was do a custom search on my area's freq and it gets all the latest transponders itself.
Im shocked that people are struggling, this was simpler than other software that requires something like this. You really don't need this file although i guess a bruteforce one could be helpful but then im sure thats already included in MP 1.0 |

I have one for TW 6952
299000 in 8K steps upto 795000 many thanks to Dancake. This is a little different to the Media Portal one and also ProgDVB I have one for N*L 6887 I made up when I knew less than I do now so it may be over the top and could be cut to reduce scan times. 203000 in 8K steps upto 795000 and 194750 in 8K steps up 794750 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- If you look at the ProgDVB file it has for 6952 203000 in 8K steps upto 795000 194750 in 8K steps upto 794750 and for 6887 it has : (beginning to remember where I got mine from) 203000 in 8K steps upto 795000 194750 in 8K steps up 794750 ----------------------------------------------------------------------- If you look at DVBdream you get for TW 6952 (I think this is the original UK Brute force file) 50500 in 7K steps upto 296500 306000 in 8K steps upto 858000 202750 in 8K steps upto 794750 ----------------------------------------------------------------------- I know from experience mine only finds channels from 283000 to 755000. It does find both ***000 and ***750 types although most not all are in both. It looks like all the new channels like Setana are coming thru on the ***750 range. So it seems to me files based on UK bruteforce are correct. You need to 2 ranges to get all the channels. I get 400+ channels of which 260 odd are kept. I am trying a manual scan as Phunky says to see how many I get. Dancake, do you get Setanta and if so what is the frequency. Last edited by Ugg; 13-01-09 at 12:48 PM. |

Why do the original brute force files have 2 over laping sets of frequencies. Some that end in 000 and some that end in 750. They both have 8K steps but are offset to each other by approx 4K.
I do not understand the system but when it scans does the DVB-C card sweep at each frequency step or just scan the exact frequency in stated in the file. Also if Willin has good channels on 186750 then the files need to be expanded on. If someone can answer my first question here I should be ok with this to make some good files. |

I used the 6887 list that was already in MP - I never actually checked that I got all channels.
I can put my FDTV transponder list up, it has more transponders in that I need, but it does give me all channels. If we do get one ilst, we could also send it to DE to include in their MCE drivers? |
