Hi everyone,
I live in ub postcode area. I have following: A) virgin broadband 10 mbit B) virgin phone line C) virgin tv package, the cheapest available only supplying the freeview channels about 40+. The cable tv line enters the house at ground level. The broadband line enters the house at upper level. I have 2 questions please: 1)Firstly, i want to have cable tv in my bedroom, i been told there are 2 ways to do this, one which is to split the tv line from downstairs and run a cable to upstairs, or secondly to split the broadband modem line upstairs and then running it to the bedroom. Which would be the better choice for best signal? 2) Secondly, i been told that, i could buy a MODDED eurovox hi definition box and place it in bedroom, run tv line to upstairs bedroom. I would prefer this option, if i could have the modded box running upstairs whilst at same time keeping the downstairs box running with the basic free channels? Can this be done? If so, then where can i buy a modded eurovox hi def box including the card and how much will this cost please? Kind regards, Sarah Last edited by sarah121; 14-01-09 at 10:49 AM. |

The hd option not worth it if with cable , because only itv on cable and only very rarely at that. No point forking out extra cash for cable hd box when there isn't any hd channels through cable . |

where ever u split it, it will be fine. it is in fact the same feed anyway, they have just split it in the box outside and ran one upstiars. so if u want the second box upstairs, u might as well split the connection to the broadband...
and yes u can still run ur original box down stairs and use the eurovox upstairs.. i'm not sure on prices of the box though... |

untill virgin improve ther HD content, a HD box will be a waste of money... and my guess is that by time they do have more HD, it will be long after our boxes are useless due to their encrytion changes... i had virgin tying to sell me a new package the other day, and i brought up the point of the lack of HD, and was told that apart from more on demand stuff that they are adding, (which we cant get anyway) there are no plans at the moment for any HD channels in the too near future... |

Hiya,
Thanks very much guys ![]() So, seems like best option to split from cable modem point and buy a eurovox 1000sl for under £100 for the tv in bedroom, and even if this eurovox is modded, it wont affect the running of the current v box supplied by virgin which is in use downstairs. So, where can i buy a pre modded eurovox 1000, i have seen on licsat for 92.50, but is this modded and with a card? Also, i would need to buy splitter and cable to run to bedroom. Would i need anything else? After buying the above items and installling, should i be able to get all the non free cable channels free, yes? Does eurovox 1000 have scart, dvi, and hdmi inputs? Kind regards, Sarah Last edited by sarah121; 14-01-09 at 01:46 PM. |

The Eurovox 1000 only has scart outputs, no DVI or HDMI as its not HD. The EX7000HD has component and HDMI ports and a USB port for upgrading the firmware and adding the functionality of PVR to it. So you can pause, rewind and record etc. Personally if you have a HD tv in the room and want upscaled picture and HD picture then i would go for the EX7000HD it also depends on your budget though. You will need a splitter and some extra cable depending on if u have any already or need a long lead to go into the bed room. Need any more help. Just ask. |
