Default Forced update on Sky box

Anyone know if a forced update can be done on a Sky box without a card in it ?

Don't particularly want to knacker it up so i thought i'd check first

I remember setting up a second hand amstrad box a while ago. Sky instructed me to hold down a few buttons so the box did a firmware update. Can't for the life of me remember which buttons but I think they had me remove the card to do it. Wouldn't like to say for sure though.

Yes you can update a Sky box without a card in it.

In the end I thought sod it and did the update anyway, and its all working peachy now

The old firmware was about 2 and a half years out of date which might explain why it was playing up

Question answered so i think i'll close this one now
