Default not responding to remote - any help please?

Hi all.

This morning I turned on our Kryptview box and it will not respond to any buttons on the remote whatsoever. I have tried the TV/SAT button and also changed the batteries. The green light is coming on on the remote but the box does not repond at all. The box appears to be working ok as the buttons on the box itself work fine.

Any ideas please anyone?

Thanks

Have tried that thanks boomer - without the remote this box is next to useless - all I can do is change channels and that takes an eternity - could it be the sensor on the box? Was thinking of trying flashing the firmware again. Any other thoughts anyone?

I've had a kv with these remote control probs as well, I noticed that in most cases it's not the remote at fault on this issue, cos I have 2 remotes and both wouldn't communicate with the kv, so u can rule out remote control fault, yo may notice that if box is turned off for a while and then u put it back on it then works so my guess is that it may well be the remote sensor in the kv or a faulty capacitor somewhere on the circuit thats not charging or discharging, problem here s that can't get hold of a circuit diagram for a kv, so best bet is have a look at the caps and also replace sensor in the kv if u can find it.

ps may not be box sensor, COULD well me remote, so test it with my methods first so yer can 100% be certain , radio or digital cam test, if one of these test don't give a bleep on radio am-mw mode or yer don't see a violet light in digi cam screen then yer remote controls shagged.

pps If yer remote control is shagged after doin these simple test then pm me for a replacement remote control I can send yer fer about a tenner p&p

Thanks jambutty I will try this. Have unplugged it from the mains and will let you know the result. I've only had this box about 6 months so should I be able to get it sorted under manufacture warranty? I'm afraid to flash firmware again as if the remote still doesn't work I'm left with a box stuck on setup screen!

Thanks again guys

reflash your box cos some supliers don't want to know about warranty once they got yer cash, ok reflash it and get it up and running and then do the checks I said, if you suss the prob and get it working then good, but if u can't repair it then take it back to person you got it off and see what they have to say.

Ok I have flashed the box again twice, this time with the 29/11 update (I did have the 28/11 but it was locking up quite regularly) and got the same results both times - the file flashes ok and reports successful in STB editor, yet when the box restarts it goes straight to the channel it was tuned to before I started. I thought it would go to an initial setup screen? Am I mistaken here or is something else wrong? It is still not responding to the remote so I cannot check the firmware vesrion showing in the menus and also I cannot get any sound now either! Any further help/advice would be much appreciated as, like you say, I don't think I have much hope with the warranty

OK, first u need to know if remote control IS working, u can test it this way, if u have a portable radio then press a button on remote aiming it at the radio speaker (make sure radio is on) and u will here a bleeping sound, this will tell u remote is sending a signal, or if u have a digital camera then look through your screen on camera and press a button on te remote pointing to your digital camera, if it's transmitting u will see a violet light on your camera, if this is the case then the remote controll is OK.
Yes when u flash with 29-11 firmware it puts the volume on low setting and u need the remote control to press right compass key to turn volume up.
Once u are sure remote is OK then u need to check sensor on KV circuit, if ur remote controll is broke, I can sell u one.
Hope this may help.
AJ

ps when yer doin' the radio test to see if it bleeps, make sure yer point remote very near to the radio speaker or yer won't hear rock all if it's more than 3 inches away from yer speaker.

cyber might sound daft but my m8 had a box super off me and said remote not working ( he had tried batteries and still no joy )

Went down and what had happend was that he had sat on the control and one of the buttons was stuck under the cover and so the box was getting the signal for this all the time and other buttons wouldn't respond .

Might not be but just another suggestion m8

Many thanks! There is absolutely nothing being emitted from the remote when viewing through a digital camera and no sound at all when placed next to a radio on FM. I have tried this with other remotes and they light up like a Christmas tree through the digital camera, however none of them seem to affect the FM radio. Anyhow, it would appear that it is in fact the remote (would you agree?) so yes I would be interested in purchasing one from you. Could you please PM me with details and how quickly could you get it to me?

Many thanks
