Hi all.
I am relatively new to satellite and have only had fixed systems such as sky+ and freesat+ in the past. My wife is Bulgarian and we would like to recieve some of the more general Bulgarian channels such as news/kids TV (FTA if possible but don't mind paying a reasonable subscription if necessary). Can anyone advise on the best way to go about this? We are currently runing a freesat+ Humax HDR from a standard sky fixed dish with a quad LNB. I would like the freesat reception to remain at all times for recording purposes. Is it possible to get a larger fixed dish with an additional offset LNB or would I need a motorised system with a separate fixed dish for freesat, or am I barking up the wrong tree altogether?! Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Im watching Bulgarian tv now
the best sat to go for is 39 east your free sat is on 28east have a look here Bulsatcom on Hellas Sat 2 at 39.0°E - LyngSat my guess is that is the package you want I hear bulsat is cheap to buy in Bulgaria or you could use a gamma card

Thanks for the replies - what would I need to receive these channels? Could I keep a fixed dish and pick up both these and freesat or would it mean motorised and/or 2 dishes? As per the start of the thread - I would like to keep freesat available at all times. Thanks again

Thanks! We have taken a look at the list and to be honest for the little extra cost we are now really tempted to go for a motorised/steerable system. What sort of size dish would I need to receive all of these?! Obvioulsy I realise some are not FTA but the Thor satellites at 0.8W look to have quite a few clear channels and look very appealing

Being up in Lincs, and since two of the target sats i.e. 16e and 1w can be of lower signals than some other sats, a safe recommendation is a 1m dish with a diseqc motor (recommended is the Moteck SG 2100); however, you might possibly be able to get away with a 90cm or even an 80cm dish.

Thanks for the help/advice guys. This sounds really appealing. What sort of rough cost would I be looking at to get all this set up and can anyone recommend the best equipment to get? I would like it HD ready (are there any HD FTA channels out there?) and if possible PVR ready. Also I am in Grimsby (Lincolnshire UK) - can anyone recommend a good installer as I really wouldn't want to attempt this myself
![]() Thanks again everyone

What is your budget? As for FTA HD channels, BBC HD and ITV HD depending on which receiver you get, give it a go yourself as you will save around £180 on installation costs!

Budget is not too much of an issue as long as it doesn't get ridiculous. I had guessed on around £200 for installation (believe me I am not good at fixing brackets etc!) and I think in my case it would be money wisely spent!
Is there anyone in the Lincs UK area that could help out with this?
