Hi all,
Very much a newbie with some technical background. Can't find this on the forum so hope someone can help! I don't know all our kit as some was already here, but... We have a dish with triple LNB for Astra 1, Hotbird, Astra 2D. Used to get both UK and German channels (most of what we watch) fine. Our Vantage box has gradually refused to display more and more channels including most of Astra 1 (German) and drops out after a few minutes on some Astra 2D ones, such as Channel 4. I figured it might be overheating and bought a new Technomate 5200D super and have tried to fit that. It works fine on the German channels on Astra 1 but refuses to display any of the UK ones on 2D, even though a blind search finds all of them. Any ideas/suggestions most welcome! baffled in Lausanne |

Hi, where are you located, what size dish have you got, and which satellite is the dish focussed on???. Maybe it is a weak signal problem. If the signal is too weak, it can come up in the channel scan, but can't be watched.

Thanks for the quick response!
I'm in Lausanne, near Geneva in Switzerland. The dish is a 75cm Visiosat Bisat. I don't know which one it's focused on but I assume it's hotbird which I believe is the central of the 3 LNBs. I've tried to check signal strength and (for example) the transponder for BBC1 says the signal's at about 90% strength and 80% quality. I could understand the signal might be too weak if both receivers refused to display, but I don't understand why one will display half, and the other the other half! |

Have you set the diseqc switching up correctly on the new receiver?

Um, good question. I didn't do anything with it as I thought the Diseqc was something to do with motorised dishes and ours is fixed. Have I boobed?

Most Astra 2D channels now available (some have distortion so I guess the signal is poor) - BBC is ok, Ch4 is not BUT None of the others come in (Astra 1 or Hotbird) and a blind scan claims that many of the channels that should be on Astra 1 or Hotbird are on Astra 2. I guess this means the diseqc I did is wrong?
