agreed, low mounted dishes are helpful in these situations. mine is reachable without ladders etc. I just made an assumption that the dish is high up as sky seem to like installing them out of reach without ladders. |

Don't think sky will touch a non-satndard install will they ? thats assuming you want one of their so called engineers anywhere near anyway. The last sly install i sorted out needed recabling as water had got into the cable due to the engineer using insulation tape instead of a rubber boot at the LNB, the water had even got inside on both the inside and outside of the cable because there was no sealant on the cable entering the house nor was the cable looped as it should be.

Correct!
Sly in Ireland (Suspect its the same in the UK) now refuse to install or repair dishes on a roof or chimney and will not enter an attic.

I have been defeated!!
I have given in and called sky to book an "engineer" I have tried all the above as well as all the "suggestions" from Sky. My dish has not moved, we have had no bad weather, the cable is fine.... I believe it is a simple case of the card is not married to the box any more because my fella put it in the new box (which it didnt work in either) and it wont work in my old box now. Sky have said they have matched my box up to my card, but it still wont work. I cannot go without TV (we dont have an aerial so we got sky instead of paying out for an aerial 10 years ago)..........gutted i will be missed 24!! |

Which box did your fella try to fit? Was it a freesat box?
You should get a signal even without a card if your dish/lnb/cable is ok so it sounds more like one of those is playing up.

you should still be able to get some channels even without a card.
The problem has been since you switched boxes, you could have a bad connection or maybe a break in the cable that has come to light since moving it. |

Kittycat you should try to get a local engineer. They are usually more helpful and will normally get a quicker response. Even better, get a recommendation.
