im after help regarding the EPG in VMC without the TV pack.
ive read and re-read the threads about it but seems i have a few probs that are not mentioned here is my setup:
But after i scan for services on the floppy i get most channels but when i go into settings>tv>guide>edit check all the channels and save it. Its using the rubbish stream epg and all channels are in a silly order. I don't have any options in edit or anywhere else to re-map the channels or no auto select unless im missing a trick. Then if i go to setup guide and set it up for cable to get the good VM epg after that has completed the actual channels are gone but i have the VM epg any help on this would be greatly appreciated |

Most of the current threads about setting up EPG is after installing the TV Pack. Pre-TV pack you could select which EPG to use and if you select the Sky one you get 90% of channels listed. Post-TV pack it chooses for you, which for DVB-C cards using DVB-T drivers means the Freeview EPG which actually only covers about 10% of the channels we get! The tricks with redundant analogue/DVB-C cards are to trick VMC into asking which EPG to use again.
I know using TV Pack and a redundant DVB-C card puts most of your channels in order (I think the analogue card trick does that too - anyone confirm?). Those that aren't in order can be amended and the correct channel number entered. I only set up VMC once without the TV Pack and ordering the channels was a nightmare. The channels appeared in the order it found the signal, so as I didn't have a registry setup with BBC1 first, then BBC2, etc this meant a pretty much random channel order. I was only able to move the channels up/down by one at a time. This meant to get Sky Movies (say) in the right place, instead of amending the channel and assigning 401 with TV Pack, without it I had to select it and move up, up, up, up, up, up, etc. Then do the same for each channel!!! Nightmare. I'm sure someone with more experience of non-TV Pack can offer some more constructive advice, but my personal experience of trying to set up without the TV Pack was that choosing the right EPG was easier (no tricks involved) but setting the channels into the right order would've taken me several hours to do. I'd definitely vote for VMC being easier to set up with the TV Pack installed, provided you have a spare analogue or DVB-C card to use. If you need a copy of it let me know 32 or 64 and I'll wing one over, otherwise I hope someone else can be of more help mate.

thanks mate
i get what your saying and gathered these tricks were for the TV pack your right about the tv ordering its a pain in the ar*e iv got to the point where all my channels are scanned in the order they were found but cant seem to get to the point where i can choose what guide to use eg when i set up my tv signal you selct antenna then the floppydtv then it says setup guide but the only options for the guides i have are freeview's or unmapped dvb-t im thinking i may just install the tv pack and see what happens so i would appreciate it if you could sort the 32bit one out for me it would be great and im gonna give it one last try w/o tv pack and if not just gonna install it thanks |

Here's the x86 TV Pack download link (together with the other installs MS stated):
_http://***************/files/186842904/x86.rar.html Replace the stars with rapid share dot com (without spaces) x64 pack _http://***************/files/186848890/x64.rar.html Again replace the stars with rapid share dot com Edit: Remember MS advise the TV Pack to be installed over a fresh install. Some people have installed it on an already-run VMC and been fine, some have experienced weird problems after doing the same. Your choice!
