Default Scientific Atlanta Explorer 4200DVB

Hi guys im new to this box, Ive updated Eurovox, Starview and the Arnet Kriptview boxs but never anything to do with this box. Is there firmware to download? or have you got to update another way? As much info as possible would be great.

Cheers

well first thing you need to do is boot the box WITHOUT FEED CONNECTED and see if the box says anything about the card status in the engineers menu. you get into engineers menu or e/m as we call it by booting the box whilst holding up and down on the front pannel.
once you have assertained this we can then advise if its worth preceding with this box.

oh yeah, a bit of history about the box would be handy, ie, has it been collecting dust under the stairs for years? has subscription been cancelled. has the box been taken out of service before subs was cancelled ect. also, is this your box which you rent from vm?

no pal. unfortunately not. the one saving grace with these boxes is that the dump isn't encrypted. same for the 4200. when you get to the 8300, its encrypted and under that grey gunk
