If it's not a rented box, go ahead. There's actually NO chipping involved, per se, lol. Read up on Novice Angel's Guide. For a 4000; read the paired card or buy a jtag. The card may well no longer hold the IRD and BK and thus not be paired anymore, look in engineering menu for card status, best bet would be to get a jtag.
