hi all, first try at this so please be patient with me. i have followed the haynes tut, disabled the firewall and also changed the stealth file name but still getting the same error.

any help would be much appreciated.

have you set ip address to 192.168.100.10 on the pc?

from the pic your nic doesnt have a network address, so it looks like you didnt.

yes m8. first thing i did. also sub net of 255.255.255.0.
could it because I'm on Vista?

ive done it with vista, you have a networking issue by the look of things...

is modem connected via ethernet directly to the pc?

yes via ethernet direct to pc. just a thought.. when i open up solarwinds and set the route to the 13.5 full stelth then press ok, should the hyperterminal autonatically pick it up? I have to press d before i can enter the ip and 13.5 name

set your default gateway to 192.168.100.1

after you press D it ask for tftp IP have you have entered? 192.168.100.10 this sould be 192.168.100.1
