either the pvr5000 or the ex7000hd will both record, the pvr5000 records to a hard drive which you have to buy, and the ex7000hd records to either a usb hard drive or a memory stick.

The EX5000 works well for this. I am waiting for the EX7000 so not sure how well it will cope with it yet. From what I hear its good. Think the EX5000 has been replaced with the EX5100 this year.

Yes. The EX5000 uses a 2.5 HD and the EX7000 has usb port to connect and external flash drive or usb HD to it.

I see. If you don't want a pvr box you can always get an ordinary euro and use video/dvd recorder.
