Hi All,
Been lurking these forums for ages, just recently registered. Is anyone running VMC with both DVB-C and DVB-T / DVB-S or all three at the same time? if so please let me know experiences. Also, is BBCHD on VM encrypted at all? |

If you're using Vista Media Centre without the TV Pack then it only supports DVB-T cards. If you're using the TV Pack then it will allow up to 2 of each type of cards (4 for Vista Ultimate).
The problem we've got is that even the TV Pack doesn't support encrypted DVB-C. This means we still have to use drivers that tell the PC you're using a DVB-T card rather than a DVB-C. You cannot therefore mix a DVB-C card with a DVB-T one because VMC will see them all as DVB-T and won't be able to understand why the channels/frequencies on one of the cards is different to the other. You should be able to mix DVB-S and DVB-T/C, but I personally haven't got satellite so can't tell you if this is actually practical or not. I've got two DVB-C cards acting as DVB-T and one DVB-C acting as DVB-C, VMC sees them correctly (2xT and 1xC) and it scans and works fine.

Hi.
I'm currently using an external dvb-t on my pc and is thinking of adding a dvb-c. Would it be possible for someone to point me in the direction where i can get more info to set up my machine? i'm using Vista Media Center but i understand that it doesn't support softcam. Do you have a rough figure on a hardcam setup? |

Based on you already have a PC and your going for premium stuff..
You will need: FloppyDTV - Roughly £130 Supporting CAM - Roughly £30 And assuming you cant borrow one and you cant get the CAM pre-flashed you will spend an extra £50 for a programmer You will also need a Funcard or something along them lines eBay is a good source for them, or someone on here usually sells them (i forget his name) but you can look at spending £10 for multiple cards |

So, you could run 2xDVB-C and 2xDVB-T with Ultimate and the TV Pack. I beleive. A Programmer is a CAS3+ or similar, for flashing firmware onto CAMs and flashing fun cards. |
