also another great one is smf, these are the only two 'free' scripts that i would use for a forum.

Doesn't IPB 1.2 come with cpanel for free? I think it does. I have seen it there before.

Is IPB 1.3 avaiable for free? Is it free?

IPB isnt free you have to buy a license for it, it used to be free, but not anymore.

MyBB is your best choice for a free forum solution. STay away form phpBB

SMF seems in vogue these days for a free forum.

Why do you say MyBB is better then phpBB ? Is it becouse the security hole which was in their script that created a worm ? Think the security patch was released way before it became an issue, the main problem was people not updating their phpBB. or there are other issues ?

phpbb is the best in php language.
but if u have a chance of using asp, then go for webwiz forums.
i found it the most simpliest but still the most powerfull and most search engine friendly.

before it's phpbb because it's free but it's easily exploitable i remember reinstalling phpbb twice or thrice a week, esp. it's redirects are exploitable so I switch to mybbboard looks good plus the rep is a good one.
