Default replacing subbed modem with haxor modem - router

chaps,

raz mac is wondering if he needs to smac his network card, he has a router that has been connected to his subbed modem and now he wants to replace it with his new super duper 20 meg haxor one.

Now i know that it's always good to smac your network card, but that's because i connect direct to the net, my router just does my network here at home...it has it's own subbed modem running it and my 360 next door.

Is it worth him changing his NIC on the router?

I don't think he needs to mate, same as you don't need to spoof your nic if you connect via usb, only with a direct Ethernet connection.

I wouldn't have thought he would get 20Mb though, I think you only get about 5Mb through usb, not sure about wireless.

kk, i was wondering about that in the config page of your router you can change the nic addy....but if that's cool then he's good to go then.

Just a case of swapping modems and rebooting everything....

don't check your mail on a dodgey modem though if you have a ISP account, is that till the norm?

ethernet is always quicker.......but hey who care's if you don't mind waiting for a download.....all depends on the speed and qaulity of the wireless connection.

You only need to spoof your NIC if you go direct to the modem AND you have plugged your normal modem in the network card some time before....

if you have never plugged your normal modem into your lap top direct then you'll be fine mate.
