Arrow Sb5101 + jtag + ?

Hi,
I've been reading through different sites for days trying to find something other than just the video at haxorware as a tutorial... or should I just attempt to use this video exactly? "Flashing from serial"
I have an sb5101 and a SERIAL jtag cable in the mail.

I keep reading I can flash or flash from memory. Does flashing from memory only allow a "one-time" modification to the modem's config? (or until boot cycle) and how is this process done compared to flashing regularly?

My goals are:
Change MAC Address.
Not buy another 5101.

I'd like to get haxorware installed on this modem without bricking it but I'm not having a fun time with all the reading and getting nowhere.
Hayneslive site is down so, that doesn't help me either.
I seem to have a rough idea of what I need to do but I'd prefer and appreciate anyone's help.
Can someone point me in all the right directions for this?
Thank you.

No sir, but thank you. I'll give it a read. I was avoiding websites outside the US because I was unsure how much DOCSIS differs from E-DOCSIS and didn't want to mess something up but eventually gave up on my fellow americans.

The cable modem has arrived, I'm just waiting on the jtag, and that should be here in a few days.

I may as well throw this out here and see if anyone knows.

[QUESTION REMOVED]
Are any other processes or pieces required other than SK and the haxorware.bin (then eventually hyperterm)?

[disregard this also]
I know it sounds like a stupid question but when I would program 27SF512 EEPROMs, depending on the program I used, the offset would be different for write and different for read.

Thanks in advance.
