Hey ppl mate of a mate has a 360 thats faulty basically the lil one stuck a screwdriver in the dvd drive and its just a matter of changing the drive which i could do but i understand i would need the key but since the drive is messed up i wouldnt be able to get the key would i? So is this 360 a waste of time buying or is there any other way to obtain key?

How you mean messed up? Does the drive still seem to spin up? You will need the key from that drive to inject into another if you want to replace it.

If the replacement drive is same model then all you'll need to do is swap the internal controller boards over, its a very simple procedure..

See i dont know how badly the drive is damaged or whether its spinning or not. How much can you get these drives for whats the value of the drives??

Around 20 to 30 quid on Ebay... The trickiest and most time consuming part of replacing a DVD drive will actually be taking the 360 shell off to get inside to the DVD drive.. Once you get inside the 360 the label on the DVD drive will reveal the model, get an identical model to replace it, swapping their controller boards over, then no need to mess with key changing..
