Hi Twin town,
My provider is N*L Cable Dublin, Ireland. I had the system working before using DVBViewer and Vplug so I have the frequency list from that. I think part of the problem is that I when I go to the Channel scan page in FireDTV viewer the only Reception type - Transponder combination I can select is Terrestrial - FireDTV (MCE). This is the transponder that came with the program. I have tried editing this to match my own N*L transponder but when I do this, it is no longer available to select in the Transponder dropdown. This is my own N*L transponder that worked fine in DVBViewer: [CABTYPE] 1=03 2=NTL Dublin 041007 3=C [DVB] 0=14 1=291000,6887000,64 2=299000,6887000,64 3=307000,6887000,64 etc... This is the default FireDTV (MCE) Transponder: [SATTYPE] 1=5000 2=FireDTV (MCE) [DVB] 0=151 1=473833,8 2=474000,8 3=474167,8 etc... If I edit SATTYPE to CABTYPE in the default transponder I can no longer select this in the Channel scan page. There must be a special format for Fredtv transponder files that is different to other programs. Problem is I can find any!!! I'm hoping some FireDTV experts can help!! Thanks, Wavey. |

Ok I think I am half sorted.
I took drastic action and replaced MCE2005 with Vista. This allowed me to use beta Firedtv drivers which included a bruteforce transponder list. A Media Centre scan found 160 channels. Only problem now is all channels are scrambled except RTE1 and a few others. But that is probably a post for another thread/section. Thanks, Wavey. |

Wavey, don’t know if this is any use now, you don’t add your own transponder file if you use MCE setup (It's set up for most areas), Fire DTViewer is used as if it is terrestrial! Install it again, choose terrestrial then make sure the card is listed in the hardware settings (scan devices). Right click in the tv screen view/channel scan-terrestrial /MCE, try scan frequency, you should get the signal bar 100%, then scan range. |

Thanks Willin,
It seems to be finding channels now that I have updated to vista and beta firedtv drivers although the signal bar is still zero the whole way through the scan. Which is odd. Did you see my post on in Cable chat section? It contains my new and improved problems! Thanks for the help. Wavey. |
