I've just purchased a Eurovox ex5100 pvr and loaded up the only available firmware - 'UFL_EX5100PVR_DarX_16-01-09'. Super number of channels no problem. However I get the age old problem of no disk/not installed /disk full when I try to record. I have tried taking the disk out and re-inserting, checked that it is fully inserted, tried to record in the epg, tried to pause/rewind etc - all to no avail... My hard drive (a Seagate 120GB) is perfectly ok as tested separately. I have contacted my supplier who sez I should wait for a new version of firmware, but I'm not convinced. So does anybody:
- have a 5100 pvr that is currently working with the firmware 'UFL_EX5100PVR_DarX_16-01-09' - know if the hdd relies on firmware at all - recommend that should I just post this box back to my supplier as its faulty.. Any help much appreciated |

Once you have installed the hard drive, turn the power back on the EX5100. If you press the PVR button you will see a message saying "no hard drive installed or full", just ignore the message & press the record button. After recording for a short time, stop the recording. Try the PVR button again. When something is already recorded & stored on the hard drive, the PVR will bring up all the info. When there is nothing recorded on the hard drive you will always see a message saying "no hard drive installed or full".
This is just how the current software functions. |

mmmmmmmmm
Steps and results: 1. Power up 2. Press PVR = "Hard drive full or not installed" 3. Press record = "No record to play or hard drive not installed" 4. Press stop = nothing 5. Press PVR = see step 2 Is this sequence time critical? |

Try this.
Turn the power off the EX5100. Then take it to a quiet room. Make sure that the hard drive is inserted fully. Now turn the EX5100 power on & listen near the top of the chassis. Did you hear the hard drive spin for a few seconds? |

The disk drive is properly inserted (with no bent pins - I've checked) and when the power is applied you can clearly hear the drive start up and the thing warms up.
