Hi all

i'm a newby here... Really just want some advise and help.

I bought the Starview 4 box yesterday, flashed it with the most current FW, tuned all the channels (N*L) and started working great. last night the box just froze, so had to power it off from the ON/OFF switch at rear of box. when powered it back on the box was back in FACTORY RESET mode, so chose language and flashed the box again. However now when i do a scan it doesn't find any channels! I have tried both auto/manual scan with network scan enabled, inc. inputting various freq but no joy. I have also tried on another line but still the same. I have factory reset again, then tried a scan without flashing the box but just not picking any channels. I have tested the line and it is fine, as the Starview 1 box works fine.

Any ideas what is wrong and how i can rectify this? It has also been tested on a line without a splitter.

Im hoping there is a simple fix for this.

Are you still getting FTA??

Also, check your system info, what does it say?

What's FTA -- Free to air?... no not getting any of these either as when i start the box it is in factory mode. i.e. choose language then scan..
It's not picking any channels at all when running scan, therefore just stuck in factory settings mode.

S/W Version: 1.07
Boot Version: B-11
Date: Dec 22 2008

When it was working yesterday, S/W version was 1.05 BETA
but i have also tried that one and the same happens...

Any other ideas?

What area are you in and what provider ID are you scanning with?

I am in Leicstershire. provider is N*L that i'm scanning with...

as test did try other providers in the list but with those too it failed to find any channels.... when scanning it goes through 100% scan then states no channels found. inc. any FTA

Tried manual scan as per instructions in other posts on this site but unfortunately no joy... all happened since the box froze.

How long is it taking to scan?
How many Transponders does it pick up? (eg: when scanning, it will show 1/24, then maybe 10/54 etc, the number on the right is what you should be looking at)

taking roughly 5 mins to scan...
transponders only showing 1/28.. though when i scanned it yesterday when working showed 1/56

All I can suggest at this time is to reset factory default and re-flash with v1.07, at present I'm not sure if it's a sw issue or a hw issue.

Try that and post back

Tried again but still the same.

Don't think it's a SW issue as I have tried both 1.05 BETA and 1.07 (1.05 BETA is what i put on there 1st yesterday when it was all working).. even without flashing the box after factory reset - the scan should have picked up channels, but it's not doing that either.

Anything else you recommend i could try?

i've noticed once i do a factory reset, when i go into system info. still shows shows S/W on there 1.07... is that how it should be?
