Default my eurovox ex1000sl box frozen!!

Hi all,
I'm new to chipped cable boxes and this is my 1st thread, so if I make a mistake or post this thread in the wrong section, i'm sorry.

I have a EUROVOX EX1000SL slimline box.....

Last week a few channels went on my box so I decide to rescan it. as the box was about to scan and showed the message 'deleating all channels, please wait', my little brother knocked the mains plug and the box and tv went off.

When I put everything back on, the box was showing over 1400+ channels in the channels list.

The names of all the channels were showing as/similar to (sorry I cant remember the names exactly but they were similar to something like...) 'ER$C$3@5#3#$'.

Also, every channel was set to 'LOCK' and 'SKIP', as it wasn't letting me access any of the channels I removed 'lock' and 'skip' off one of the channels and pressed to view it. As soon as the channel came on, about half a second later it went off and the scree was blank.
THE BOX FROZE.

When I plug the box in, the blue light comes on automatically but it doesn't show any picture and I can't turn the box off from the remote or access the menue or change the channnel, volume etc...

Doe's the box need to be flashed with the software/firmware again?

I don't know what to do, if someone can please help and advise me on what to do, it would be much appreciated!!! Thanks.

Well, yea, first off I would certainly attempt flashing it ... Sound like its got its knickers in a twist from being pwered off in the middle of changing its config (channel list)..

Exclamation Re: eurovox ex1000sl box frozen!!

hey guys
didn't reply sooner as i been away.

i took the box back to the person i got it off. he said he flashed it but it still doesnt work!!!
ALSO, he told me to take it to an electrician as there may be something wrong with the circuitboard......????????

i feel he may be lying to me!
as i have not dropped the box or moved it, heck, i havn't even touched it as there's no buttons on the box itself and the only way to operate it is by remote!!!

are you sure it needs flashing?

i feel i should try it my self......

i kno its probably been asked before but how do i flash the box my self?
can anyone run me through step-by-step OR is there already a guide on here? (if so, where?)

It wouldn't be any harm at all to flash it yourself then you will know exactley where you stand! It's very easy to flash a box, there are detailed guides on this site "Flashing for Newbies". All you need is a Null Modem cable, connect it to your box & the other end to your PC. Install the chatterbox.cc toolbar then click files and fixes from the drop down menu, choose the software for your box, (EV1000sl) & download it to your desktop. You will see a download button, click it & the process should begin. Let it finish then wrig your box back up to your tv & give it a full scan, you may need to Factory reset it also depending.. I hope this works for you! If the dealer you bought it off really did flash it is it still frozen? If so there could be something wrong with Circut Board.. Let us know how you get on! Good luck!
