Info
I am pritty new to this, so if there is already a thread then please direct me to it. I have updated the firmware (software) to the latest version 1.07 and have turned on the emu key thing so i can watch all channels. I am having some problems with recording onto the 1GB USB memory stick provided. When i press record the picture and sound keeps breaking up, (like its trying to catch up or something). This is the same for if I pause live tv and then press play. It is then all ok when i press stop and resume watching live tv. But if i watch the recording on the box the picture and sound is fine. Also how can i watch what i have recorded on a pc. The file is in some TS format. And one more thing I have a external hard drive which i use in a media player, can i use this to record onto via USB Any ideas ? P.S. can you set a timer to record ? forget the memory stick this box hates usb devices being unplugged and plugged back in when it is turned on and you only get about 1 hour per gig, you need a usb hard drive formatted to fat32, i use a 200 gig trekstor external self powered hard drive, it is important to get a self powered drive as the current limit on the starview usb is low and can't drive a large hard drive. let the starview box do the formatting. if you want to watch the file on a pc you need a free program called gom if you google it you should find it easily. before unplugging hard drive turn starview box off by the powerswitch on the back, do not just put into standby. to record by timer press epg on remote then the green buton to populate the epg then select program to record and press the record button, when the program is about to start the box will change channel and record. hope this helps.

Thats great thanks for all you help. I will try this 2night with my external hard drive, hopefully the picture won't keep breaking up while recording this time.
Do you know if the box will play other videos off the hard drive like AVI files ? |

I have tried playing avi files on my box and it wont work one thing we have to remember you have to turn your box off completely b4 plugging in a usb device to it or it will jjust wipe also when you first plug in the usb u are given the option to back up your codes and also your channel data do this straight away it will save u loads of time.

Do you get any freezing when fast forwarding recordings on that 200 gig trekstor mate. I have tried my 320 iomega portable harddrive on 2 seperate starviews(not clones) I have tried newer firmware and now gone back to 1.07 I have also tried sandisk 4gb, 8gb pendrives and although they format straight away in the staview and record much quicker etc, i still get random freezes when forwarding adverts etc and i have no choice but to reboot the box |
