ive just re-connected my old sky box up in the spare room for my grandaughter, dont pay the subs no more, so its just used as a freesat box, but i was checking which chanels i can get, and was a bit taken aback to learn i cant get chanel 5, according to sky its now a subscription chanel, how long has c5 been a subbed chanel, ..sky are getting bloody greedier.

Its FTV on sky just like its always been.

If you still have the old subs card just leave it in for a few days. C5 will reactivate in time.

cheers for that mate. i,ll do as u say and leave it for a day or two, but theyve got an info message thats says:- call (their number) to upgrade your subscription to receive this chanel. doesnt look promising. thanks anyway tho.

Thats correct dont worry about it. As long as the card hasnt been totally cancelled (eg Sky believe you took it out of the country it will reactivate eventually.

five is on freesat now, this guy is using a skybox for sky ftv

I would have thought that Five would have been on the sats somewhere, maybe it is just a number, he should not need a card, unless they have symbol rate different that those on the Sly box.

i don't think any of the freesat channels show up on sky boxes do they?? they're 2 seperate entities(different transponders??) not sure.
All i know is freesat won't let sky have itvHD so there must be some way they are stopped from just tapping into it(and five)....

Channel FIVE is both FTA and FTV on two different transponders. One is for the Sky dodgy boxes for channel 105 in the Sky epg, the other is the Freesat one on 10773H.

Sky dodgy boxes can pick them both up, the 105 epg one with a card, the other by adding channels with the services button on the remote.
