Hi Guys,

Im trying to flash my cable moderm, but i have got a lapttop with vista on, Hyperterminal is no longer on these and i was wondering if anyone could help.

i have searched this site and have done a google search but the one i got isnt free, can anyone point me in the right direction or if you have got s free copy you could send to me.

ye try the private fta section in the forums. in fact just use this.

you can install it without doing any downloading, go to control panel>add programs and features> telnet client

or just get an ssh client , putty for example

Hi there,

i have got vista on my laptop, so can i use the Telenet instead of hyperterminal. if so hw do i do it or if i do get putty as you said hw do i use that.

or type "hyperterminal private" in google & theres free downloads-don't know if vista compatable but would think so?

i have googled for hyerterminal but the free one available isnt for vista its for older OS.

if i download putty hw do i use it, cus am following the haynes guide and it uses the hyperterminal for its flashin instruction.

they are all pretty samey, type in a hostname / ip , set port to telnet (tcp:23) and hit connet, after that enter username and password and away you go :P
